In many healthcare settings around the world, people needing care often experience extended delays for accurate diagnostic results. Hours to days can pass while questions persist, leaving caregivers without answers, and patients without treatment. When every minute lost can greatly impact the delivery of care, answers can't wait.

ACW Stories

holiday plans (& treatment) put on hold

When Irfaan Remtulla’s father became suddenly ill one Christmas Eve, his family needed answers. But answers were slow to come, placing his father’s health at risk, and derailing a happy holiday for his family. Irfaan used this experience as an opportunity to improve his hometown hospital’s efficiency with point-of-care testing. Watch the Remtulla family’s story.

when symptoms aren't typical

Dr. Hertner recalls a fit, 39-year-old patient arriving in the Emergency Department complaining of back pain. Point-of-care testing discovered elevated troponin levels, an indicator of impending cardiac distress. The patient was immediately transferred to the cath lab where he, within 160 minutes of his arrival, received appropriate treatment. Listen as Dr. Hertner tells the story.

Meet Bibi

Bibi* is a farm worker supporting her family of six.
Lately, she's been experiencing tightness in her chest.
She worries about losing her job if she takes the needed
time off to seek care.

Access to care
is limited

Travel to the nearest clinic takes Bibi three hours where she waits hours just to provide a blood sample. Her test results won't be available for two weeks, delaying her treatment and requiring yet another trip to the clinic.

Answers Can't Wait

For Bibi, having to wait too long for these critical results
can impact her livelihood, her family and her health.

REAL-TIME, LAB-QUALITY results

Point-of-care (or with-patient) testing allows medical staff to accurately achieve real-time, lab-quality diagnostic results within minutes rather than hours or days. Through the use of portable blood analyzers, testing at the point-of-care can streamline the diagnostic process and help ensure patients receive the most effective and efficient care when and where it is needed. With point-of-care testing, clinicians can focus their time and energy on what matters most—helping patients get back to their lives.
